What Does the Bible Say About..The Last Trumpet?

Does Gabriel blow the last trumpet and if he does, what chapter in the bible?

Answer

“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17)
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:51-52)

These are the only passages that refer to a final trumpet. (Actually, the first one doesn’t refer to a trumpet but a voice like a trumpet.) Neither makes mention of the angel Gabriel. One mentions “the voice of the archangel”, but the only archangel mentioned in the Bible is Michael. I don’t know where the popular idea of Gabriel blowing a trumpet came from, nor even where the idea that he is an archangel came from. These ideas certainly did not come from the Bible.
