What Does the Bible Say About...Insects?

We are looking for biblical references of insects in the NIV bible. We have checked the glossary and the index and we couldn't find it.
We need it for a school report. How do we find them? Or can you help by siting the verse for us.
Thanks.

Answer

Probably the best way to find all the many passages on insects in the Bible would be to look it up in a good Topical Bible. This excellent type of reference work divides scriptures up by topic, rather than by specific words as would a glossary, index, or concordance. You should be able to find one in a good library, or ask a minister. You may also find it at http://bible.crosswalk.com/Concordances/NavesTopicalBible/.

Naves Topical Bible refers you to several kinds of insects, which you could also look up in your index. Included are ant, bee, beetle, cankerworm, caterpillar, flea, flies, gnat, grasshopper, hornet, lice, locust, moth, palmerworm, scorpion, spider, and worm. These are the names in the King James Bible. The NIV may use different words for the cankerworm and palmerworm. Included are such wonderful passages as Acts 12:23, where a king gets eaten by worms.

I could list all the passages for you, but that would deny you the pleasure of finding them all yourself. Good luck.
